Bacteriostatic Water is sterile, non-pyrogenic water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is intended for research and laboratory use as a diluent or solvent for the preparation and reconstitution of peptides and other lyophilized compounds.

The inclusion of benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, allowing for multiple withdrawals from the same vial under sterile conditions. It should not be used for intravenous administration or in neonates.
